Parcel Weave

The Story
Inspired by the idea of “carpet fields,” Parcel Weave imagines carpets multiplying across the land as if they were crops growing from the soil. Viewed from above, agricultural parcels are reimagined through the colors and motifs of traditional carpets and kilims. The land gives way to woven surfaces, while crops are replaced by patterns. In this way, Anatolia’s rich weaving tradition is removed from its familiar context and transformed into a part of the agricultural landscape. The work reflects on how an object created through craftsmanship can gradually become a form of cultural memory, and on the relationship between that memory and the geography from which it emerges. Here, the carpet is no longer merely a woven surface; it becomes a cultural trace—planted in the soil, growing, and becoming part of the fabric of the earth.
